"My name is Arlena (@____), and I am a full-time university student from Atlanta, GA. I work in sales and marketing in the leasing industry as well (part-time). So needless to say, I’m a busy girl. I also enjoy recreational sports, especially soccer, and weight lifting, and I try to fit in at least 4 workouts a week. Because of my active lifestyle and a lot of sweating that comes with it, skincare has been super important to me especially in the last couple of years since I had terrible cystic acne from a difference in diet and water quality after spending awhile in Spain. I self-treated that with the same regimen I use today!

In the morning, I shower using Dr. Bronner’s Tea Tree Oil Castile Soap as my body wash. I love its natural ingredients and the tea tree scent smells refreshing and clean. I order the largest size of this to my door because I LOVE IT. Also, I use an exfoliator 2-3x times a week that is lavender scented and all natural from Trader Joe’s as well all over my body (except for my face because it is too rough for gentle facial skin). For my face, I currently use Murad’s Vitamin C cleanser for bright, fresh skin to start my day every morning. Once to twice a week, I use my MIA 2 face brush to exfoliate and deep cleanse my skin. Also 2x a week, I do a mask, using 100% Aztec Indian Healing Clay, blended with Apple Cider Vinegar, and 100% natural tea tree oil. This natural facial draws out imperfections in the skin and gives a clean shine to my face.

I don’t play when it comes to moisturizing! When I get out of the shower, I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS put oil all over my body. My current nourishing oil of choice is from Bath & Body Work’s Aromatherapy line. It is their new scent, Black Chamomile. It is so light yet moisturizing and gives me a super healthy glow all over my skin. As far as my face goes, I start with witch hazel on a cotton pad as a toner right after I’ve washed my face in the shower. I follow this with a few spritzes of Mario Badescu’s Rose Facial Spray and before it dries fully, I like to rub a generous amount of Aveeno moisturizer with sunscreen on my face to all be absorbed for a nice glow. Then I follow with my everyday makeup look.

My nightly skincare routine is similar, but I focus on spot treating for my acne-prone skin so that any spots can heal overnight. After using micellar water to remove my makeup, I wash with Neutrogena’s Grapefruit Acne Cleanser, then follow with my Aveeno moisturizer. After this, I use Murad’s spot treatment generously if I have any acne, even tiny spots. Then, I finish off with Murad’s post-acne spot treatment which is a clear gel that spreads across the skin and lightens blemishes left behind by acne over time. I use this all over my cheek areas specifically.

Overall, even with my super busy schedule, I always make time for skincare! It is crucial to do even on limited time and with a busy schedule. No matter what, you always have to take care of your skin to look youthful at any age. In all aspects of life, my philosophy is this: Invest time in yourself!"
