Building The Perfect Base

With imperfections like acne, discoloration, wrinkles, etc. on display for all to see, it’s easy to understand why going bare-faced is a terrifying ordeal. However, it seems like all you need to achieve this level of confidence is flawless, clear skin. But let’s be real, has anyone ever really “mastered” getting perfect skin? The real answer - no. But we can sure has heck get pretty close.

A makeup-less face look not only allows your natural beauty to be seen, but it pairs perfectly with a smile. Is it possible to ditch your makeup routine some days and still end up looking drop-dead gorgeous? Our answer - heck yes. So boom, we present simple tips and tricks to help you achieve skin that looks good naked.

Sleep

If you lack sleep, your skin will surely show it. Sleep deprivation causes a decrease of blood flow to the skin surrounding your face. Dark circles, dry skin, puffy eyes, and visible signs of aging are all dreadful side effects of not getting your beauty sleep. Try actually sleeping for the recommended amount of time, and you’ll see the difference even after one night!

Water

In addition to hydrating your skin on the outside, staying hydrated on the inside with the gift from nature, H20. Drinking about 5-8 glasses of water a day can improve overall glow of skin, and also helps get rid of toxins, yay! (Pro tip: to make sure you do drink that much, always keep a bottle of water with you)

Sunscreen

As much as we love the sun, having protection from the extremely harmful radiation is crucial. The negative side effects of unprotected sun exposure may not be visible right away, but fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and even cancer can creep up on your complexion over time. Make sure to apply (and reapply) SPF 15 or higher daily.

Mindfulness

Believe it or not, what goes on in your mind does eventually reach to your skin. Getting rid of stress and negativity will not only make you feel better, but look better too! Practice some stress-management techniques like stretching, or simply taking a bath and reading a book. Your skin will thank you.

Food

The things you put in your body are just as important as what you put on your body. Simple things like a slight change in diet could dramatically change the healthiness of your skin. So it doesn’t hurt to sometimes substitute the chocolate dessert for a fruit salad.

Routine

Along with all of these alternatives to taking better care of your skin, the best thing for your skin is to stick to a basic skincare routine. Just simply remembering to cleanse your skin everyday can make a huge difference. Or you can exfoliate and get rid of all the dead skin and other gross things, while hydrating and moisturizing in one step. (We find Otavea to be the best.) Now Rome wasn’t built in a day, so your skin won’t be clear in a day (sorry to burst your bubble). But with constant work and dedication, results will eventually show.
